Slim Thug & The Boss Life Foundation Presents The 6th Annual Boss Life Ball

Updated: Jan 22, 2019

It was a night filled with glitz and glam as the city's finest came out to help Slim Thug and The Boss Life Foundation celebrate some of Houston’s top entrepreneurs for the 6th annual Boss Life Ball. Held at The Post Oak Hotel January 20, 2019, Slim Thug and the Boss Life Foundation honored some of Houston’s top local and national entrepreneurs, leaders, and those that are excelling in the community. The evening started with a star-studded red carpet experience hosted by Isiah Carey of The Isiah Factor on Fox 26 which consisted of the 2019 honorees, sponsors, and familiar faces such as Houston's own Mayor Sylvester Turner, comedian/ artist Lil Duval, TV Johnny, Chamillionaire, Former Miami Dolphins player Alphonso Roundtree, Television Hostess Julissa Bermudez,  Singer Tobe Nwigwe, Justin Martin of IJustGotHit.com, and a host of others.

Slim Thug who is “constantly giving back” gave away 3,000 pairs of shoes one Christmas. The 2018 Boss Life Ball supported the Boss Life Foundation’s efforts to give away a home to a family who lost their home during Hurricane Harvey. The #HarveyDidNotWin giveaway started on July 9th, 2018. Listeners would call into the radio station and describe their experience during Harvey. After receiving over 4,000 entries, the partners announced the 10 finalists. All 10 finalists were provided with boxes a box, nine of which had had $5,000 boxes and one had a key to the home.

Justin Martin of IJustGotHit.com, an honoree who partnered with The Boss Life Foundation and Radio One Houston for the #HarveyDidNotWin Home Giveaway says being honored is surreal,

“It feels like I should be doing what I’m doing so to be recognized for something I should have already do is almost like the comedy that that's about paying the bills.” “I’m just doing what I should be doing.” When it comes to being a boss, Martin says it all boils down to “you taking a lot of risks and being comfortable with it.” “It is navigating around the risk and then creating opportunities for other people in the community at the same time.”

Another honoree, who has one of the most popping food spots right now, The Turkey Leg Hut announced some more establishments opening up this year under their growing empire, "The Daiquiri Hut will be next door to The Turkey Leg Hut which will be opening up in March." "It's going to be a Daiquiri Bar/ Lounge Area." "We are also going to be opening up The Breakfast Hut." We can definitely expect longer lines!
