The Buffalo Soldiers Museum Host Gala To Honor African American Armed Forces

We told you it was #MoreThanAMuseum!!! This year celebrates and honors the birthdays of military heroes on Friday, February 23, 2018  in the museum’s Albert and Ethel Herzstein Gallery at 6:30 p.m. Through the prism of time, there is consensus for the contributions made by the African-American soldier who has proudly served in every military campaign from the revolutionary war to the current engagement in the Persian Gulf. Every year The Buffalo Soldiers National Museum invites the public to celebrate the history and outstanding contributions of the African-American armed forces personnel at its annual fundraising gala.

“Honoring Our Sergeants Major” is the night’s theme which highlights the important role of this unique and highly-ranked position in the United States Army. Guests will enjoy a night of fine dining, entertainment, dancing and moving speeches and stories from military heroes during the black-tie affair. Executive Director of The Buffalo Soldiers National Museum, Desmond Bertrand-Pitts believes this ceremony is especially important during Black History Month, “Although Black History is 365, February is Nationally recognized as Black History Month and we are honored to be a main attraction during this time, wrapping up the month is our 18th Annual Gala; celebrating the birth of the only institution dedicated to the African American military experience, come and celebrate with us.” Proceeds from the gala support BSNM initiatives such as, youth and educational outreach programs, the arts, and historic research.

“Support a worthy cause as we preserve American History, we need you!”
